You couldn’t have gotten better weather for the annual Petersburg Community Club Carnival days. John and Jonathan Temme again served as announcers for the activities which this year incorporated some adults and new ideas.

Power pole struck by storm

Sunday evening May 17 at 7:55 p.m. the Petersburg fire department was alerted by a passerby to fire on an electric pole which had been struck by lightning located on Beaver RD and 170 Street west of town. Fire chief Baumgartner and fireman John Wagner responded and the sheriff’s Department notified Cornhusker Power. Flames were periodically shooting from the affected area and the firemen were present as a cautionary measure before the power company arrived. Firemen did not attempt to extinguish the fire because the power was on.

Antelope Memorial wins award from Bryan Health

On April 28th, Antelope Memorial Hospital received the Most Improved Performance Award for 2025, as a member of the Accountable Care Organization (ACO) coordinated by Bryan Health. The award was presented during the annual Bryan Health Connect Conference held at the Holthus Convention Center in York.

Blood drive meets goal

At the April 27th Petersburg Red Cross blood Drive 41 units were collected with a goal of 42. This drive was a community celebration honoring Father Frank Baumert as he approaches the remarkable milestone of 600 units of blood products donated, saving many lives.
